Resident Researchers & Cassandra Fellows

  • Gintautas ("Gin") Svedas

    Cassandra Fellow
Gin is an AI Engineer at SAP Research & Innovation in Palo Alto, where he prototypes next‑generation machine‑learning systems. A lifelong community builder, he serves as a developer advocate with AICamp and was selected as a section leader for Stanford’s Code in Place 2025. Earlier in his career he wrote high‑performance Python at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider and delivered cloud‑native microservices and data pipelines at Danske Bank. Gin earned a B.S. in Information Technology from Vilnius University while completing Harvard CS50 and Stanford Continuing Studies courses. At Cassandra Labs he explores retrieval‑augmented generation, vector databases, prediction markets, and the broader intersection of AI and finance.

  • Arpan Bhattacharya

    Researcher-in-Residence
Arpan Bhattacharya is the founder and CEO of The Intelligent Search Company in San Francisco and a Researcher‑in‑Residence at Cassandra Labs. Previously, he engineered large‑scale search infrastructure, ads systems, experimentation platforms, and workflow orchestration at Uber, Wish, Meta, and Intuit. Arpan completed his B.S. with honors in Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas in just two years on a full academic scholarship. At Cassandra Labs he researches decision intelligence, retrieval‑augmented generation, adaptive information retrieval, human–AI collaboration, and applied cognitive architectures for complex decision‑making.

  • Andrei Lyskov

    Cassandra Fellow
Andrei Lyskov is a senior data scientist and author based in San Francisco. After earning his Computer Science degree from Queen’s University in Canada, he drove data‑powered products at Apple—contributing to Apple TV+ and Apple One—as well as at Square and Coinbase. At Cassandra Labs he explores decision intelligence, large‑language‑model tooling, human‑AI collaboration, and applied cognitive architectures for complex decision‑making.

  • Hans Shen, CPA

    Cassandra Fellow
Hans Shen is a Certified Public Accountant and fintech specialist who bridges rigorous accounting standards with modern software architecture. After advising and building finance systems for multiple high‑growth startups, he now applies that expertise to open‑source ledger design and innovative financial mechanisms at Cassandra Labs. Hans focuses on ensuring that every on‑chain register and off‑chain report he touches can stand up to both auditors and regulators while empowering developers to innovate.

  • Vyom Malhotra

    Researcher in Residence
Vyom is a Senior Systems Software Engineer on NVIDIA’s GPU Cloud team, where he builds high‑performance infrastructure that underpins large‑scale AI workloads. Equal parts engineer and filmmaker, he brings a creator’s eye to every technical challenge. Vyom earned his Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo while directing award‑winning short films—proof of his talent for weaving narrative into complex systems. At Cassandra Labs he investigates GPU‑accelerated simulation, AI‑assisted sense‑making, and the design of scalable compute primitives for open‑access financial research.
